Most, if not all, commercial (and homemade) Brown Sugar Scrubs are nothing more than the brown sugar you buy in the grocery store. That's nothing more than White Sugar dipped in molasses and left to dry. I take issue with those kinds of scrubs for these reasons: That type of sugar grain is small, not the right size nor strength to exfoliate much of anything. Demerara grains are the perfect size to melt away dried skin cells for a deep, but gentle, smooth scrub experience. Typical brown sugar also does nothing for the body. Demerara Sugar is mineralized.
